Client’s Challenge

The client was heavily dependent on DISCOM power supply at high tariffs, which resulted in recurring high operational expenses. To reduce this financial burden, they were looking for a cost-effective solar power solution. However, the available land parcel posed a significant challenge due to its undulating and uneven terrain, making it difficult to execute a large-scale installation without driving up civil construction costs. At the same time, the client required a system that would not only be efficient but also highly reliable for over 25 years of operation, ensuring long-term energy security and financial savings.

Our Design & Engineering Approach

Topographical Survey & Grading Optimization

A detailed topographical survey of the uneven land was conducted to study slope variations and surface levels. Based on this data, we applied grading optimization techniques to minimize earthwork and reduce civil construction costs, while still ensuring structural stability for the solar plant.

MMS (Module Mounting Structure) as per IS 875 Standards

The Module Mounting Structures (MMS) were designed in strict compliance with IS 875 wind speed standards, making them capable of withstanding high wind loads. This ensured the plant’s durability and safe operation across its 25+ year lifespan.

Robust Electrical System Design

The electrical system was designed with 7-in-1-out LT panels and 3.75 MVA transformers, enabling efficient power evacuation and load management. This setup enhanced operational reliability while ensuring smooth integration with the grid.

Optimized Cable Trench Layout

To improve efficiency and control costs, we planned a strategic cable trench layout. This not only reduced the overall length of cables required but also minimized transmission losses, leading to better energy output at lower operational expenses.

Key Solutions Implemented

Bifacial Modules with Tracker System

We deployed bifacial solar modules integrated with a single-axis tracker system, enabling the panels to capture sunlight from both sides. The tracker adjusts the panel’s angle with the sun’s movement, resulting in a 12–15% higher energy yield compared to conventional fixed-tilt systems.

Central Inverters for Cost Efficiency

To streamline operations, we used central inverters instead of multiple string inverters. This reduced the overall operation & maintenance (O&M) costs, simplified monitoring, and improved long-term system reliability.

Optimized Transmission Line Design

The transmission line layout was carefully engineered to minimize distance and technical losses. This optimization ensured that the power generated at the plant was delivered to the grid with maximum efficiency and minimal energy wastage.
